How do physicians manage SURF flares with corticosteroids?
This recent international survey and literature review from the JIR CliPS, explores current practices around on demand corticosteroid use in syndrome of undifferentiated recurrent fever (SURF). While around 70% of physicians use corticosteroids during flares—most often prednisolone at 1 mg/kg—routine use remains uncommon, especially among more experienced clinicians. The findings reveal wide variation in treatment response definitions and highlight the lack of consensus on when to modify treatment.
