Why Collaboration Moves Pediatric Rheumatology Forward

A conversation with Pr Patricia Costa Reis

As part of our STSM (Short-Term Scientific Mission) 2026 program in Lausanne, we sat down with Pr Patricia Costa Reis, pediatric rheumatologist and pediatric nephrologist from Lisbon, Portugal, to talk about what drives progress in our field.

Her answer: collaboration.

"It's so important to work together, to collaborate, to share experience — because we are going to learn from other centers, from other colleagues, and we are really going to move the field forward."

In this short video, Pr Costa Reis reflects on caring for patients with rare and complex diseases, the value of international research networks, and why sharing ideas across centers leads to better care for patients everywhere.
